The Honorable Patti Bellock

Patti Bellock has dedicated her public service career to ensuring access to quality health care for Illinois’ most vulnerable population and making the state’s health care and delivery systems more efficient and effective. She’s been nationally recognized for her role in establishing major healthcare reforms and improvements. Director Bellock spent 20 years as a state representative in the Illinois General Assembly, serving as a member of two Medicaid-related groups to move legislation forward, approving the Hospital Assessment and the Omnibus Medicaid bill. She was the first woman Deputy Minority Leader in the history of Illinois. As Director of the IL State Medicaid and Child Support Agency in the Illinois Health Care and Family Services, Ms. Bellock worked on healthcare legislation and public policy issues throughout the United States. She initiated Better Care Illinois, the state’s landmark 1115 Medicaid waiver and sponsored legislation on medical reform, disabilities and health care, as well as directed and reformed the child support systems. One of Ms. Bellock’s signature achievements in the General Assembly was the landmark Save Medicaid Access and Resources Together (SMART) Act, which reformed the Illinois Medicaid System. She also worked on bills regarding mental health parity, MRSA infection control and the Amber Alert system, winning her awards from over 30 organizations. Ms. Bellock is proud of her rich Chicago roots, as the great granddaughter of Charles Comisky, the founder of the Chicago White Sox. In her free time, Ms. Bellock spends time with her grandchildren, family and friends, volunteers on various Boards, develops women leadership programs, speaks at national conferences and universities, and attends sporting events. 

Steve Lefar

Steve is a three-time CEO with 30 years of experience in healthcare with expertise in strategy, analytics and software. Steve is the Chief Strategy Officer of Strata Decision, the leading provider of financial and performance solutions to more than 400 health systems. He is the Executive Director of StrataSphere, Strata’s data collaborative. He is also a board member of several venture backed companies. These include Case Check, Evive and Wildflower Health. Previously, Steve was CEO of Applied Pathways (acquired August 2017 by AIM Healthcare which is part of Anthem).  Prior to Applied, he was CEO of healthcare market intelligence, consulting and analytics firm Sg2 (acquired by MedAssets in 2015) and President of MediRegs (acquired by WoltersKluwer in 2007). He was also head of Corporate Development at Allscripts and worked in consulting with both Accenture and APM early in his career. Steve earned a BA in economics from the University of Michigan in 1988. 

Richard Bone, MD

Dr. Richard H. Bone is a Board-Certified Internist and Gastroenterologist at Advocate Aurora Medical Group (AAMG). He is the Senior Medical Director of Population Health for AAMG and leads the GI service line in Illinois. He was previously the Vice President of Medical Management – South Region for AAMG and has held numerous administrative roles with Michael Reese Health Plan, Humana Staff Medical HMO, Advocate Health Centers, Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Aurora Medical Group. His clinical practice is Gastroenterology and Dr. Bone is on staff at Advocate Christ Hospital, Advocate Trinity Hospital, Advocate South Suburban Hospital, and the Tinley Woods Surgical Center. Dr. Richard Bone completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at West Suburban Hospital and Medical Center (WSHMC) where he also served as Chief Resident. He was a Fellow in Digestive Disease at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center. Dr. Bone has been published in numerous clinical journals in Hepatitis, Cell Modulation, and more. He has presented on population health topics at multiple national meetings and is an active leader in Group Practice Improvement Network (GPIN) and the American Medical Group Association (AMGA). 

Henish A. Bhansali, MD, FACP, Dipl. ABOM

Dr. Henish Bhansali is a leader and physician executive in the Medicare Advantage (MA) sector of value- based care. He is a practicing internist and joined Duly Health and Care in 2021 as SVP and Medical Director of Medicare Advantage. Prior to Duly, Dr. Bhansali led Oak Street Health’s part B risk as the Senior Medical Director and Vice President of Care Navigation, led clinical strategy and operations for diagnostic and specialty care nationwide and the organization’s institutional partnerships across Chicago. Prior to Oak Street, Dr. Bhansali was the Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine for the University of Chicago at NorthShore University HealthSystem. He developed and directed NorthShore’s first Global Medicine and Community Health programs. Dr. Bhansali completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University-Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, member of the AOA Medical Honor Society and is board certified in both internal medicine and obesity medicine, and he is pursuing a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy. Dr. Bhansali lives in Chicago with his wife, their two sons and one daughter. 

Ali Khan, MD, MPP

Ali Khan, MD, MPP, FACP is a practicing general internist and Chief Medical Officer, Value 
Based Care Strategy at Oak Street Health. Dr. Khan joined Oak Street Health in 2019 as Executive Medical Director, leading the clinical, strategic and operational performance of a 60+-center, 300+-clinician and 1400+-employee delivery system over eight states. He was named a Modern Healthcare Top 25 Emerging Leader, National Minority Quality Forum 40 Under 40 Leader in Health, a MedTech Boston 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovator, a Crain’s Chicago Business Health Care Hero, a VCU Alumni Star and a California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) Health Leadership Fellow. Prior to Oak Street, Dr. Khan served as CareMore Health’s Clinical Design Officer. At Iora Health, Dr. Khan was the Director of Physician Engagement and led the strategic design and implementation of a variety of initiatives in population health, clinical quality improvement, clinical application product development and workforce development. A board-certified internist, Dr. Khan practices general internal medicine and is on faculty at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He was the National Deputy Field Director of Doctors for America and served as a health policy fellow at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress under the former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General. He is a co-founder of Doctors for Biden, VoteHealth 2020, the Civic Health Alliance and the Illinois Medical Professional Action Collaborative Team (IMPACT). He currently serves on national advisory boards for both Primary Care Progress and Costs of Care and is a member of the American College of Physicians’ national Awards and Governance committees, the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation Board of Directors and the American Board of Internal Medicine Internal Medicine Board. Dr. Khan completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School and VCU’s Medical College of Virginia, earning joint MD and MPP degrees as a Harvard Public Service Fellow. He is an alumnus of the California Health Care Foundation Leadership Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Khan lives in Chicago with his wife and children and together, they seek out adventure wherever it may be. 

Perri Smith

Perri Smith, MBA, is Director of Population Health at Oak Street Health, a national network of value-based primary care clinics for adults on Medicare. Perri is responsible for designing and implementing strategic initiatives related to transitions of care. Prior to joining Oak Street Health, she served as special assistant to the COO/EVP at Boston Medical Center and as a management consultant with Accenture’s Federal Services Practice, where she worked on interoperability and digital health projects. Perri is deeply passionate about improving access to health care and eliminating disparities in health outcomes.
