Katie Kaney, DrPH, MBA, FACHE

Katie is a C-suite healthcare thought leader with over 25 years of experience developing and implementing innovative programs to enhance care, promote health and expand business models for success. A bestselling author, Both/ And: Medicine and Public Health Together charts a practical path toward better health outcomes at a lower cost, for all.

She is the founder of the Whole Person Index, served as an advisor for companies including GE Healthcare, Pfizer, Rothman Index, Guideway Care and UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, among others. Kaney is a Fellow through the American College of Healthcare Executives, a lifelong community volunteer, and was named one of the Top 25 Women in Business in Charlotte, NC among numerous other accolades.

Katie loves being with her husband Rich, 10-year-old son Gavin and their 4-legged son- 200-pound English Mastiff, Rufus.

Kaney earned her DrPH in Public Health and Health Leadership from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and her MBA and BA from University of Buffalo.

Jennifer Houlihan

Jennifer is the Vice President of Value Based Care and Population Health for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Health (now part of Advocate Health) focused on driving the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care, with a particular focus on provider engagement, population health management, and successful implementation of accountable care payment models. Jennifer also holds an appointment in the Wake Forest School of Medicine Center for Healthcare Innovation to support academic learning health system -population health implementation practice across the healthcare delivery system. Jennifer earned a Master’s in Planning from Florida State University with an emphasis in Health Policy and a Master’s Certificate in Population Health from Thomas Jefferson University.

Jody Fleming

Jody Fleming is the president of NCHA Strategic Partners, the shared solutions group of the North Carolina Healthcare Association (NCHA) and senior vice president at NCHA. Her responsibilities include business development, strategic planning and operations, contract development, and statewide marketing initiatives. Ms. Fleming has been with NCHA since August 2000.

Ms. Fleming has held positions on several healthcare association boards, serving multiple terms including with the North Carolina Association of Healthcare Resource Materials Managers (NCAHRMM) and the North Carolina Healthcare Financial Management Association (NCHFMA). Currently, Jody is serving a second term on the Association for Home and Hospice Care of North Carolina (AHHCNC) board. Ms. Fleming also serves as the past president of the Association of Healthcare Solutions (AHS), a group of hospital association shared service leaders across the United States.

Ms. Fleming earned a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management from Appalachian State University and is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration (MBA) with a concentration in strategic managment at Liberty University. She has 30+ years of healthcare experience, including physician practice management prior to joining NCHA. Jody also earned her insurance license in 2017 for health, sickness and life & disability and is working on her property & casualty license.   

Jody and her husband Barry reside in Apex, North Carolina. Jody and Barry volunteer with several charitable organizations including the Triangle Beagle Rescue. The couple adopted four beagles – Linus, Louis, Jack and Rocky and still have room to help foster.

Kelly Crosbie

Kelly Crosbie, MSW, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who has supported people with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual/developmental disabilities her entire adult life. She began volunteering in the community with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in high school, and she started her career as a mental health clinician serving children in foster care and juvenile justice settings as well as adults and children with co-occurring conditions.  

Kelly has worked for multiple non-profit organizations that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a range of capacities, from Development Officer to Chief Strategy Officer to Chief Operating Officer. In each setting, her work was dedicated to promoting greater self-determination and equity. From 2008-2012 she was the Assistant Director for Behavioral Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at NC Medicaid, where she oversaw benefits such as the Innovations Waiver before being named NC Medicaid’s Chief Operating Officer in 2013. Most recently, Kelly served as the Chief Quality Officer for the Division of Health Benefits (formerly NC Medicaid). In that role, she oversaw all Quality Programs aimed at improving health outcomes and promoting health equity. She also directed all Care Management Programs, including Tailored Care Management, which is designed to provide comprehensive whole-person care management support for members with mental illness, substance use disorder, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.  

Kelly received her Masters degree in Social Work Administration from Temple University and her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She is an appointed member of the NC Institute of Medicine, the HCP-LAN 2.0 Care Transformation Forum, the Health Equity Advisory Team (HEAT), the NCQA Public Sector Advisory Committee, and the Equity Standards subcommittee. In the past she has served on multiple Technical Advisory Panels (TEP) for CMS/CMMI and NQF initiatives.
